Forehead Lines Treatment in Marylebone, London

Horizontal forehead lines are among the first dynamic wrinkles to appear and the most commonly treated area in UK aesthetic practice.

Forehead Lines

Horizontal forehead lines form where the frontalis muscle repeatedly contracts to raise your eyebrows — during expression, reading, squinting, and concentration. In your twenties these lines are visible only during movement (dynamic wrinkles); by your thirties they begin to etch faintly into resting skin; by your forties and beyond they become permanent static lines that remain visible even when your forehead is completely still.

The treatment approach depends on which stage the lines are at. Early dynamic lines respond well to anti-wrinkle injections alone. Intermediate etched lines usually require anti-wrinkle injections paired with a short course of skin rejuvenation (microneedling or fractional laser) to remodel the etched layer. Deeply set static lines sometimes require very small, superficial dermal filler placement to physically smooth the groove — but this is a last resort used conservatively because filler in the forehead carries higher vascular risk than other areas and requires specialist experience.

What drives this concern

  • Repeated contraction of the frontalis muscle (raising eyebrows)
  • Genetics and skin type — thinner skin etches faster
  • Cumulative UV damage — photoaged skin loses elasticity earlier
  • Smoking and high sugar consumption — both accelerate collagen breakdown
  • Poor sleep posture and chronic squinting from uncorrected vision

Common
questions

Can deep forehead lines be completely removed?

Deeply etched static lines can be significantly softened but rarely completely erased, because the collagen structure beneath them has already been damaged. A realistic goal for long-established forehead lines is 60 to 80% reduction in visibility with combined anti-wrinkle and skin rejuvenation treatment over 6 months. Dynamic-only lines in younger patients can be almost entirely controlled with anti-wrinkle injections alone.

At what age should I treat forehead lines?

Treat when dynamic lines begin to persist at rest — not before. For most patients this is mid-30s to early 40s, but genetics, sun exposure, and skin type vary this widely. Treating too early (for lines that are still purely dynamic and not deepening) offers no preventative benefit and exposes you to unnecessary treatment costs. The consultation honestly assesses whether you are ready.

Will treating my forehead make my eyebrows drop?

Incorrectly dosed forehead treatment can cause eyebrow ptosis (drooping) or a heavy-brow feeling, because the frontalis muscle is also the only muscle that lifts your eyebrows. Dr Valentina uses careful dose mapping — lower doses centrally and minimal product near the lateral brow — to relax forehead lines while preserving brow position. A 2-week review catches any adjustment needed.

How much does forehead line treatment cost?

Anti-wrinkle treatment of the forehead is £250 per session at this clinic, covering forehead plus any necessary "balancing" doses into the glabella (frown area) to prevent the frown from becoming more prominent as the forehead relaxes. A 3-area package including forehead, glabella, and crow's feet is £450 and is the most common first treatment.
